Tonight’s tasting at the Hotel Cheval was delicious and the Halter Ranch peeps delightfully fun and informative. Each wine was well crafted and balanced. The closer was a special guest star called Ancestor, which stole the show. It may have been the blend of mostly Bordeaux with Rhone grapes or the way they blanketed Syrah’s cranberry tartness with the rich darkness that Cab and Merlot bring to the game. It may have been the bright bigness of Syrah in the infield with the body and structure of the Bordeaux’s in the outfield. But it is definitely today’s winner.
Got to stop watching so much baseball.
