Haywood

The tasting at Haywood starts off with a uniquely balanced Chardonnay. Before you say anything about Chardonnay, remember the old days of oak and butter and how we’ve swung the pendulum so far past that everything is tart, blonde, or naked? Well, this one is delightfully balanced and has the best of both words, er um pendulums.

But the Primativo stole the show with that great acidity and strong mix of dark purple and red fruit flavors. This wine comes to the table before the food but enhances it when it arrives. Yum!

More from my appellation adventures in this region.
