Acorn

Published November 15, 2012

The warm and attentive husband and wife operation at Acorn is behind what I think is the best wine for any Thanksgiving table. Its strong fruit flavors of dark plum and cherry give it enough jam without being jammy. Merlot’s influence adds the tough acidity to pair across the table with protein, rich stuffing or potatoes, and even cranberry. But its good long finish is the warm elegant yet full mouthfeel you should bring to the table on such a holiday.

Besides, it’s from a vineyard called Alegria, meaning happiness and joy.

More from my appellation adventures in this region.
