Intrigued to try the newest tasting room in the Paso square, we entered Cloak and Dagger Wines assuming it looked like the previous tenant. Man, were we wrong! They’ve done the most impressive renovation we’ve seen in Paso. Check out the cool lounge they’ve created:
Then, the wines wowed us. The 2017 Defector may surprise you with an aroma of blue and red berries accompanied by a whiff of pepper and smoke. We blissfully savored how broad it was on the palate with a long body of dark plum and plump cherry that lingered in a softly chewy mouthfeel with a lovely plush finish. It was ideal for those who love a big heavy balanced red. A tiny hint of green herbs rounded out the flavors.
The only mystery was, if the name implied a zin that mysteriously adopted the characteristics of a cab.
Cloak and Dagger Wines’ tasting room is located at 840 11th Street, Paso Robles. They recommend calling in advance.
